At Sergeants Mess nature is good to us so we're good to nature. Our venue is surrounded by National Park and the waters in front of our shoreline boast one of the biggest diversities of aquatic species in the Harbour. As such, we see it as our role to protect nature and our environment in every way we can. We have committed to low wattage lighting throughout the venue, are installing solar panels on the roof to collect the all day sunlight and toilets are flushed with water collected in rain water tanks. The kitchen is part of Electrolux's sustainable energy award-winning 'Green Spirit' range. It includes energy efficient refrigeration, dishwashing, and cook tops that cut-off power when pans are removed. A 100 mile menu will be available to guests in support of local growers and breeders within a 100 mile radius of Chowder Bay. In addition we are proposing a kitchen garden to grow our own herbs and vegetables. But this is just the beginning. We are working with architects, designers and environmental consultants to ensure our daily practices reach the best possible environmental standards. This includes considering how our presence and guests affect local flora and fauna, paying careful attention to what we buy and where then constantly seeking new ways to minimise our impact while maximising guest enjoyment. Most of all, we will be creating exciting new ways to help you make your event as low impact as possible, and integrate them in ways that is not only environmentally responsible but also interesting and memorable for your guests. All of which means that at Sergeants Mess you can not only enjoy an event that is in tune with the natural surroundings but also considers the future of the location that makes us so unique.
